GOOD RETRO GAME WEEK, day 2.
This game seemed so advanced to me back when I first played it. It was like a glimpse into a possible future for games. A future of 3d sandbox shooters and huge non-linear rpgs.

BC Kid (Amiga)
GOOD RETRO GAME WEEK, day 2.
BC Kid, also known as PC Genjin, FC Genjin, Bonk's Adventure... the game's got a lot of names.
The Amiga version of the game is actually available as a free download from the developer's website here: Factor 5 downloads.

Wiz 'n' Liz: The Frantic Wabbit Rescue (Amiga)
GOOD RETRO GAME WEEK SPECIAL, huh?
Here's what I've got for you. An excellent game for the Commodore Amiga 500 with pretty, smooth-scrolling graphics and unforgettable music.
What is Wiz 'n' Liz: The Frantic Wabbit Rescue, Alex?

Jumping Jack (ZX Spectrum)
Okay I'm tired of playing random retro games I've never seen or heard of before, and that more often than not turn out to be crap. This week I'm taking a break...
GOOD RETRO GAME WEEK SPECIAL, day 1!
For one week only, I'm playing 12 games I used to love. But it's possible/likely that these games won't quite live up to my hazy childhood memories. Will any of them still hold up today?
Well I might as well start at the beginning. This was perhaps the first game I ever played, and it was ancient even then.

Star Wars (ZX Spectrum)
That's not a bad title screen at all for a ZX Spectrum game I think. Though the Death Star in the background looks more like a giant sinister R2D2 to me.

The Amazing Spider-Man: Lethal Foes (SNES)
ULTIMATE FIVE PART SNES SPIDER-MAN SPECIAL!
Part five:
That's better. Those last couple of games didn't even have 'Spider-Man' on the title screen. Go!Spidey.

Whoa, 1989... that's the same year that the Game Boy came out. Yeah, I'm not optimistic about this one.

AMAZING FIVE PART SNES SPIDER-MAN SPECIAL!
Part two:
Lots of TMs. That title screen is a bit of a step down from the last Spider-Man game, though to be fair it did come out a few years earlier.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series (SNES)
SPECTACULAR FIVE PART SNES SPIDER-MAN SPECIAL!
Part one:
Out of all the SNES games I've been playing, that's possibly the best title screen I've seen yet. Spider-Man swings around in the background, then drops down, and climbs back up to pose for the camera.

Batman (ZX Spectrum)
It took five minutes to load this, so I hope you appreciate the incredible sacrifices I make.
I have no idea why Batman is carrying a shield though. We're supposed to be collecting pieces of the broken Batmobile, so I suppose it could be a hubcap.

Eternal Grace (PC)
RPG fan Ocean cunningly uses this opportunity to advertise his friend's game.
OK, now playing Eternal Grace! I know the people who made it so they asked me to play it. You can get the demo here, or support them by buying the full game! http://www.eternal-grace.com/

OK here we go! I wasn't sure what kind of game it was but I really don't tend to look up much about it before I play.

The Blues Brothers: Jukebox Adventure (MS-DOS)
What the hell reason do they have to be so happy? I've never seen any of the Saturday Night Live sketches, but I don't remember them smiling much in the movie.
Tuff E Nuff (SNES)
I'm guessing either a side scrolling beat 'em up or a platformer about a woodland creature with attitude. In the forest.

I think this one's a first person shooter. Or maybe I'm confusing it with Alien vs Predator on the Jaguar.

Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu (TurboGrafx-16)
Not to be confused with Jackie Chan's Inaction Kung Fu, where he just sits watching martial arts movies for the whole game.
This was actually one of my favourite platformers on the NES, so I'm curious to see if it's the same game.

That does say 'Metal Rage'. You'll have to take my word for it.

Valdis Story (PC)
Ocean returns with a look at another free rpg.
Valdis Story was something I was asked to play. As I was playing Indie RPGs, I figured why not? It's more a platformer than an RPG really but it does have levelling... I guess that's about it from what I got to play. You can download it here.

Very neat title screen I thought! Time to give it a whirl.

Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts publicly humiliated me, now I'm going after the first game in the series for revenge.
This is the first Commodore 64 game I've ever played by the way, so I'm not sure what to expect from it.

The Spirit Engine II (PC)
RPG expert Ocean is back with another freeware game, which you can download for yourself here.
The Spirit Engine 2. By the name I thought it'd be some type of train game or a new game making engine or something. But it's a side scrolling RPG, without platforming parts.

You can change the difficulty and also even change it midgame if you want, but you can disable that too if you don't like that.
