Zombies Ate My Neighbors (Genesis/Mega Drive)

I get the feeling this might be one a few of you people have played yourselves.

It's an early 90s game by LucasArts, so it can't be THAT bad, right?

Those are toy water pistols. You're wearing 3D glasses. Your hair is stupid.

My first instinct was to go shooting zombies but this is apparently incorrect. This is a rescue mission, there are cheerleaders in danger!

If you don't get to them in time, the cheerleaders are brutally and horrifically murdered by the zombies in a flash of blue light. And then they turn into blue angels and float to the heavens. Hey, for all we know this kid has special vision and can see things no one else can see. Maybe that's what the 3D glasses are for, who knows? It would at least explain why everyone else just stands there oblivious to the terrible terrible danger they're in.

Once you've rescued all the civilians, a magical door appears and you blindly step through it. Because a magic door appearing in the middle of a supernatural attack can only lead to good things, right?

Level two is much the same as the first. Go through gardens and houses rescuing people. And raiding their cupboards for stuff. This isn't the most exciting game ever made.

You cannot see me zombie, I am not here. Go away.

Finally we get out of the suburbs! Level three is set in a shopping centre and... hey backup has finally arrived! Oh, wait, no they're just more idiots for me to rescue. And look at that baby playing on the escalators, totally unsupervised. These people don't deserve to be rescued.

Actually, this is pretty similar to Dead Rising now that I think about it. Thankfully without the escort missions, as you instantly rescue people just by walking into them.

HULK SMASH PUNY ZOMBIES!!! PUNY 3D GLASSES MAN DRANK POTION AND BECAME HULK. HARD TO READ SIDE EFFECTS ON A LABEL WHEN WEARING 3D GLASSES.

Zombies and psychotic dolls with axes I can handle, but this? Wait, I know you... you're Oozo the Clown from Day of the Tentacle!

Ha. Ha. Ha.
That's it, I'm through with this game.

  1. I’m surprised there’s no comments or anything on this one. I loved this game back in the day. Trying to build your arsenal as big as you can is key for a successful run. (It gets haaaard) Maybe revisiting this one could happen at some point! It seems to have grown a pretty big following over the years.
