The Great Waldo Search (SNES)

Fun fact: in the UK he's called 'Wally'!

Uh, no it's okay mate you can keep it. Seriously, just GET BACK... I don't want that thing anywhere near me!

Oh wait, this is the level select screen? I get it now! I still don't want it.

Oh. Wow. This is what the game looks like? Well, maybe they're going with a stylised tapestry look for this level. I guess the clocks are for extra time, and the numbers give me extra points. I'm not seeing Wally anywhere but then that's the point.

Oh it seems like the levels scroll left and right a bit, he's not even on this screen.

Perhaps I should have switched it to hard mode. I thought the idea was the fill the image with things that look a bit like Wally, so he was difficult to make out, not just to dump him in plain sight on background that makes your eyes bleed.
Wikipedia | The Great Waldo Search (video game)
"The graphics of the Sega and Super Nintendo versions are vastly improved from the original Nintendo version, but the levels and gameplay remain the same."
Good lord!

I understand that drawing this many characters in a picture is very difficult, perhaps more so for low colour pixel art, but this is ridiculous. There is only one stripy thing on this level! You do have to find the scroll too, which is a little more of a challenge, but it's not very rewarding.

Is that guy's face bleeding?

At last we reach endgame. This level mixes it up by making you look for a striped sock, which is much more challenging. I actually failed this level the first time around. But when I replayed THE ENTIRE GAME to get here again, I was able to complete it quickly enough. It's okay, it only took like a minute.

So yeah, this is the first game I get to tag with the 'games I have finished' label. Shameful.

For the sake of fairness, I tried out hard mode to see if it was any better. It's the same except they hide Wally behind something, and stop the game occasionally to make you find an extra object on screen like a red window or whatever.

Wally's actually in this shot, can YOU find him?

If you only ever play one SNES game in your life, PLEASE make sure it's not this one.
