Secret of Mana (SNES)

This month on Super Adventures, I'm finally getting around to the legendary Secret of Mana!

I'm running a few weeks late here so I'll get my internet-sourced trivia introduction text out of the way quickly so I can get to the game.

• That 'Nasir' you see on the title screen is Nasir Gebelli, the programmer of Final Fantasy I, II and III.
• Trying to figure out the game's exact relation to Final Fantasy IV and Chrono Trigger could drive you nuts.
• It started out as a project codenamed "Maru Island" before becoming a Seiken Densetsu sequel.
• It was planned for the SNES CD addon, but was drastically revised and cut down for a cartridge release.
• Many of the unused ideas from the CD version ended up in Chrono Trigger.
• The dialogue was cut back even further for the English translation due to space limitations.
• It's getting a 3D remake next year!
• It's one of the games on the Super NES Classic!
• I've never played it.
• Well actually I have, but it wasn't for long and I don't think I liked it much.
• All I remember is walking down a river and maybe visiting a town before getting bored.

Also, it's one of the most popular and critically acclaimed SNES games, so I'm going to have to try not to hate on it too much.

Final Fantasy Adventure (GB) - Guest Post

Suddenly, jrpg expert Ocean appears from out of nowhere with a look at another classic Square game: Final Fantasy Adventure, aka Mystic Quest or Seiken Densetsu.

Despite the name, Final Fantasy Adventure is the actually the first game in the Mana series. I figured it'd be a better idea to go over this one first before playing the remake, Sword of Mana.

Here is Final Fantasy Adventure then! I have to say, this is one of the games I've probably replayed the most.

Legend of Mana (PSX) - Guest Post

Rpg fan Ocean returns with another post about a classic rpg, as is his way.
Now for Legend of Mana! I admit I have a soft spot for the early Mana series. Final Fantasy Adventure is the game I have replayed most out of all the games I ever played, Secret of Mana is wonderful and has a brilliant soundtrack, Seiken Densetsu 3 is a massively huge game making and graphical influence on me. So now, what about Legend of Mana?

Here it is, Legend of Mana, for the PS1.

Children of Mana (DS) - Guest Post

Another guest post by Ocean.
The older Mana series are dear to my heart, and a huge inspiration for me. I saw the reviews for the newer Mana series, and they were pretty disappointing. I have tried out Sword of Mana, and I was not a fan of that one. Final Fantasy Adventure (which Sword of Mana is a remake of) is one of the games I've replayed most. I felt they dragged out the story and added silly stuff that didn't add to the game.

But how does Children of Mana fare?
