I wa...Thanks for your review! It was a fun read XD

I was very little when this game came out and played the living heck out of it. It was, as previously stated the first of its kind. As a fan of the Battletech universe, being able to actually pilot a Mech was the greatest experience ever. Even at 8 or 9 years old I was smart enough to exploit the economy by buying low and selling high, running behind mechs on defense missions to shoot out the back of their knee caps since they do not turn around, and that while I was not smart enough to understand the dialog... I did realize that the key to beating the game had very little to do with running the missions. But that is not why I played the missions. I just loved being in the cockpit of a WHM-6R warhammer. Experiencing in my mind, what I felt it would be like when my friends rolled dice on the battletech table top game.

Each MechWarrior since would improve (well, almost each... LOL.) But few had the simplistic charm that this one carried. Needless to say, I have played every single one.

Artixhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10965427275171239495noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2068112306642079190.post-55787443373282451122016-08-16T07:06:58.446+01:002016-08-16T07:06:58.446+01:00This was an awesome blast from the past - great fu...This was an awesome blast from the past - great funny review! I remember an exploit I used with the Locust as it was a lot shorter than the other mechs. You could run up right next to the enemy and blast them at point blank range, especially enemy Jenners. Their arsenal would fly straight over you!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2068112306642079190.post-61490968412988966432013-03-09T15:10:01.675+00:002013-03-09T15:10:01.675+00:00Well, Mechwarrior was the first 3D game of it'...Well, Mechwarrior was the first 3D game of it's series (the last one was an overhead RPG) that allowed you to actually fight inside the mech. I still remember playing F-15 Strike Eagle (the first one) back when it was new and thinking it was gaming at its finest. From a modern standpoitn I realise that I just didn't know how to play it (one of the reasons being that I couldn't read back then) and was mostly amazed by the idea of actually flying a jet.

So, you're going to continue with mech games? It would be interresting to see the evolution, since FASA continued making the official Mechwarrior games while Dynamix continued with their own series, Earth-/Starsiege and Activision making Heavy Gear-series with the same engine after loosing the license.
Not to mention all the clones (I'm looking at you Iron Assault).
